West Ham United are prepared to meet AZ Alkmaar's asking price for Troy Parrott as the Championship club step up their pursuit of the Republic of Ireland striker.

According to Algemeen Dagblad, the Hammers are willing to pay around €30 million for the 24-year-old, with FC Porto also emerging as serious contenders for his signature.

Parrott's future has looked increasingly uncertain in recent weeks, with AZ already preparing for the possibility of losing one of their star players.

West Ham ready to pay asking price

The report states West Ham have the financial resources to complete the deal following the lucrative sales of Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes earlier this summer.

Having been relegated from the Premier League last season, the Hammers are rebuilding under Nuno Espírito Santo and have identified Parrott as a key attacking target.

AZ have placed a valuation of approximately €30 million on the striker, and West Ham are reportedly willing to match that figure.

Porto provide competition

FC Porto are described as the only other club currently capable of matching AZ's valuation.

The Portuguese champions, now managed by former Ajax boss Francesco Farioli, are also interested in signing Parrott as they look to strengthen their forward line.

Real Betis had previously shown concrete interest in the Ireland international but are now believed to have dropped out of the race.

AZ expecting striker to leave

Parrott's departure has become increasingly likely following comments from AZ head coach Leeroy Echteld after the club's Johan Cruyff Shield victory.

The manager admitted he does not expect the striker to remain in Alkmaar for the upcoming season.

Since joining AZ, Parrott has scored 51 goals and registered 17 assists in 96 appearances, establishing himself as one of the Eredivisie's most prolific forwards.

Although he remains under contract until 2029, a summer exit now appears increasingly probable.
