Fulham reject Roma’s €50m Kevin bid as transfer stance emerges

Fulham have rejected Roma's opening offer for Brazilian winger Kevin after the Serie A club made the first serious attempt to sign the attacker this summer.

According to Brazil's Globo Esporte, Roma submitted a proposal worth around €50 million (£43.5 million), including bonuses, as they looked to bring the 23-year-old to Italy ahead of their UEFA Champions League campaign.

However, Fulham quickly turned down the bid, making it clear they have no intention of selling the winger unless a substantially improved offer arrives.

The report states Fulham's decision is based less on the size of Roma's offer and more on their belief that Kevin's market value will continue to increase.

The Cottagers signed the Brazilian from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer in a deal worth up to €45 million, consisting of an initial €40 million fee plus €5 million in bonuses.

Although Roma's proposal would have generated an immediate profit, Fulham believe the winger is capable of becoming significantly more valuable after another season in the Premier League.

Kevin made 31 appearances in all competitions during his debut campaign in England, scoring three goals and registering three assists.

While those statistics may appear modest, Fulham are understood to be encouraged by his overall development after giving him time to adapt to English football.

The club's stance suggests they see considerable room for further improvement and are unwilling to cash in after just one season.

According to Globo Esporte, Roma are unlikely to be the only club to test Fulham's resolve before the transfer window closes.

Several other Serie A clubs are also monitoring Kevin's situation, although no further offers have yet been reported.

For now, Fulham remain determined to keep the winger unless a significantly higher proposal changes their position.

Roma must decide whether to return with an improved offer if they want to revive negotiations. Fulham's current stance suggests only a significantly higher bid would persuade them to consider selling Kevin before the transfer window closes.
