Pedro Porro has promised to “come back stronger” after his latest injury forced him to withdraw from Spain duty and handed Tottenham another fitness concern.
The 27-year-old lasted just 19 minutes of Spurs’ 3-2 home defeat to Aston Villa before hurting himself while attempting a tackle. Porro immediately showed his frustration before receiving treatment and eventually leaving the pitch for Archie Gray.
His injury came shortly after returning from another minor problem that had kept him out of Tottenham’s previous two matches.
Porro sends message after Spain withdrawal
Spain quickly ruled Porro out of the upcoming international fixtures, and the right-back has now addressed his setback on Instagram.
“Sometimes you have to stop, take a breath, and start over,” Porro wrote.
“Now it’s time to recover and trust the process. I’ll come back stronger, hungrier, and more determined than ever. This is just another bump in the road. See you soon.”
The message confirms Porro is entering another recovery period, although neither Tottenham nor the player has provided a specific diagnosis or return date.
Tottenham waiting for clarity on latest problem
That uncertainty is important given Porro's recent fitness history.
He previously spent time out with a hamstring injury earlier in 2026 and has experienced several muscular problems during his career. However, there is currently no confirmation that his latest setback is another hamstring injury or a recurrence of a previous issue.
Tottenham will therefore need to wait for further assessment before determining how long Roberto De Zerbi will be without him.
The timing at least gives Porro a three-week international break to work on his recovery without immediately missing another Premier League fixture.
His absence would nevertheless be significant if it extends beyond the break. Tottenham are still searching for their first league victory after five matches and have only two points following the Villa defeat.
Porro's availability will therefore be one of the major fitness issues to monitor before Spurs return to action against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

What’s next?
Tottenham will assess Porro during the international break before establishing whether he can return when domestic football resumes.
De Zerbi will hope the three-week pause provides sufficient recovery time, but Spurs will need further medical clarity before knowing whether the right-back can face Manchester United.
