Liverpool have confirmed that Ryan Gravenberch will miss Wednesday's Champions League clash against Fenerbahce after suffering a heel injury.
The Dutch midfielder has been omitted from Andoni Iraola's 22-man travelling squad and will remain at the AXA Training Centre for treatment.
His absence adds to Liverpool's injury concerns following Sunday's 1-0 Premier League defeat against Arsenal.
Liverpool confirm Gravenberch injury
Gravenberch had been competing for a regular midfield position before his latest setback.
The Netherlands international missed Liverpool's comeback victory over Brentford through suspension after being sent off against Manchester City.
He subsequently remained an unused substitute against Arsenal, with youngster Trey Nyoni preferred in the starting line-up.
Liverpool have now confirmed that Gravenberch will not travel to Istanbul.
"A heel injury means the midfielder will not be part of the Reds' travelling squad," the club stated.
The 24-year-old will receive treatment from Liverpool's medical staff, although no recovery timeframe has been announced.
Iraola faces growing injury problems
Gravenberch joins Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Jeremie Frimpong among Liverpool's unavailable players.
Wataru Endo and Federico Chiesa are also absent from the travelling squad because they were not included in the club's Champions League registration.
However, Dominik Szoboszlai provides Iraola with another midfield option after returning from injury against Arsenal.
The Hungarian came off the bench during Sunday's defeat and has been included in the squad for Fenerbahce.
Iraola explains faith in Trey Nyoni
Nyoni could retain his starting position following his recent performances.
Speaking before the Arsenal match, Iraola praised the youngster's development and explained his selection.
"The thinking is that he's playing very well and we trust him," the Liverpool manager told Sky Sports.
Nyoni started against Arsenal before making way for Szoboszlai in the second half.
With Gravenberch unavailable, Iraola must decide whether to continue with the teenager or restore Szoboszlai to the starting line-up.
