Leeds closing in on £26m Zion Suzuki deal after serious offer

Leeds United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Zion Suzuki after making a serious £26 million offer for the Japan international.

Daniel Farke is being backed after guiding Leeds comfortably to Premier League safety, and the club are now looking to strengthen ahead of the 2026/27 season.

According to La Stampa, talks for Suzuki have reached the final stages, although Juventus remain interested in the 23-year-old goalkeeper.

Leeds are believed to be ahead in the race after submitting their £26m proposal.

Suzuki’s involvement at the World Cup with Japan may have delayed progress, but his country’s elimination against Brazil could now allow negotiations to accelerate.

Juventus remain a possible threat, but Leeds are currently described as being in a strong position to complete the transfer.

The move would give Farke a goalkeeper who has enhanced his reputation considerably during the tournament.

Suzuki’s displays for Japan attracted praise from former Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

Casillas described him as a “world-class goalkeeper” and praised his composure, positioning and reactions under pressure.

“He’s playing with the composure of a goalkeeper who’s been at the top level for fifteen years, not twenty-three,” Casillas said.

For Leeds, that praise will only strengthen the feeling that Suzuki could become a major long-term signing. However, the deal is not complete and Juventus could still attempt to intervene.

Leeds will hope to finalise the deal now Japan’s World Cup campaign is over.

The main danger remains Juventus, but the Whites appear to have put themselves in a strong position by making a serious offer. If the final stages progress without a late hijack, Suzuki could become one of Farke’s first major additions of the summer.
