Ipswich Town have made a bid for Toulouse striker Emersonn, joining Hull City in the race for the 21-year-old Brazilian.
According to Sky Sports, Ipswich have submitted a rival offer as they look to strengthen their attack with at least two new strikers this summer.
Hull have been leading the chase and reportedly saw a £17.3 million bid rejected. They are now said to have returned with an improved offer worth £22.3m.
Ipswich enter race for Emersonn
Emersonn joined Toulouse from Turkish side Göztepe last summer after beginning his career with Athletico Paranaense.
The forward scored six goals and provided two assists in Ligue 1 last season. He started 19 matches and made another eight appearances from the bench.
Those performances have now attracted two newly promoted Premier League clubs, with Ipswich attempting to challenge Hull’s position in the race.
There is no indication yet of the value of Ipswich’s offer or whether Toulouse are prepared to accept it.
