Aston Villa risk missing out on Atalanta striker El Bilal Touré after Parma moved into pole position to sign the Mali international.
According to Africa Foot, Unai Emery's side remain interested in the 24-year-old, but Parma have already reached an agreement in principle with Atalanta, leaving Villa with little time to revive their pursuit.
Touré is expected to leave Bergamo this summer after being informed he is not part of Maurizio Sarri's plans.
Parma move ahead in race
The report states that Parma's proposal has been accepted by Atalanta.
The agreement consists of a €1.5 million loan fee, a €10 million purchase option and a 15 per cent sell-on clause, with the final transfer expected to depend on performance-related conditions and Parma's Serie A status.
A source told Africa Foot that Atalanta's hierarchy are satisfied with the offer, while Touré is expected to undergo a medical before joining the club.
Villa previously advanced in talks
Aston Villa were among several clubs to express interest in the former Almería forward, alongside Fenerbahçe.
The report claims discussions with both Villa and the Turkish club had reached an advanced stage before Parma accelerated negotiations.
However, with Atalanta now favouring Parma's proposal, Villa would need to submit an improved offer if they want to bring the striker to Villa Park.
Touré spent last season on loan at Beşiktaş, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 26 appearances, although the Turkish club decided against making the move permanent.
