Alexander Isak has praised Liverpool teammate Bradley Barcola after the French winger provided a crucial assist during Sunday's 2–0 Premier League victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Pascal Groß's early own goal gave Liverpool the lead at Anfield before Barcola created the opportunity for Isak to double their advantage.

The victory extended Andoni Iraola's side's winning streak to four matches across all competitions and lifted the Reds into fourth place.

Isak credits Barcola for Liverpool's second goal

Liverpool took the lead in the 17th minute when Florian Wirtz's shot deflected off Groß and into the Brighton net.

Four minutes later, Barcola blocked an attempted clearance, recovered possession and drove forward before picking out Isak inside the penalty area.

The Swedish striker finished from close range to score his sixth Premier League goal of the season and extend his scoring run to three consecutive league appearances.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Isak praised his teammate's contribution.

"Bradley did super-good in that and for me it was just about being in the right place to finish it off," Isak said.

The striker also believed Liverpool could have scored more, particularly during an impressive first-half performance.

Liverpool's pressing approach pays off

Iraola's side caused Brighton problems through aggressive pressing and quick transitions, repeatedly winning possession in dangerous areas.

Isak highlighted those qualities as central to Liverpool's attacking display.

"The first half is really what we want to be about — intensity, winning balls and countering," he explained.

Brighton had opportunities of their own, with Yasin Ayari missing an early chance and later striking the post.

However, Liverpool protected their advantage to secure their first home Premier League victory of the season.

The result moved the Reds into fourth place, just one point behind Brighton.

Arsenal test awaits Liverpool

Liverpool now face a significant challenge against reigning Premier League champions Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta's side lead the Reds by six points, making next Sunday's meeting at Anfield an important opportunity for Liverpool to close the gap.

Barcola's creativity and Isak's improving goalscoring form could prove crucial against the league leaders.
