Yasin Ayari keeps Brighton future open despite insisting he is happy at the Amex

Yasin Ayari has refused to commit his long-term future to Brighton despite making clear that he remains happy with life under Fabian Hürzeler.

The 22-year-old has become an important member of Brighton’s midfield since Hürzeler replaced Roberto De Zerbi, making 78 appearances since the beginning of the 2024/25 season.

However, uncertainty remains around his contract situation, with Ayari unwilling to confirm whether he intends to sign a new agreement.

Speaking to Fotbollskanalen while away with Sweden, Ayari stressed that he remains fully committed to Brighton while he is contracted to the club.

“It feels good at Brighton and I’m under contract there,” he said. “I will always do my best as long as I play for that club. I feel good there.”

Previous reports suggested Ayari was unwilling to sign an extension, but the midfielder neither confirmed nor denied that position.

Brighton have an option that can extend his contract until 2028, giving the club additional protection despite the uncertainty surrounding a longer-term agreement.

Asked whether a deadline had been established for contract discussions, Ayari simply responded: “No.”

Ayari was linked with several major European clubs during the summer, including Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe.

The Sweden international insists he paid little attention to the speculation after returning from the World Cup.

“I haven’t followed it that much,” he explained. “I enjoy Brighton. We are going strong right now and I am happy to come to training and play for that club, so there is no problem.”

Ayari's comments therefore offer Brighton reassurance without resolving the bigger question.

He is happy, playing regularly and enjoying Hürzeler's football, but he has stopped short of providing any guarantee that his long-term future will remain at the Amex.

That leaves his contract situation as one Brighton will eventually have to address, particularly if his performances continue attracting attention elsewhere.

Brighton are under no immediate pressure because of their contractual option, but Ayari’s longer-term position will eventually require clarification.

For now, the midfielder's priority remains regular football under Hürzeler, with his performances likely to determine whether interest from elsewhere returns.
