Nottingham Forest's pursuit of Givairo Read appears to be over, with fresh reports in the Netherlands claiming the Feyenoord defender is no longer considering a summer transfer.
Forest have spent much of the transfer window trying to convince Feyenoord to sell the highly-rated right-back, but the Dutch club have consistently refused to lower their demands.
Now, it seems the player himself has decided his future lies in Rotterdam.
Read commits to Feyenoord
Journalist Joost Blaauwhof reports that Read has ended any thoughts of leaving this summer and is fully focused on Feyenoord.
According to sources close to the 20-year-old, the defender has complete confidence in new head coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst and wants to compete for trophies with the Eredivisie club this season.
The update follows comments made by Read himself over the weekend, when he hinted that a transfer was no longer on his mind.
Forest efforts come to an end
Nottingham Forest made several attempts to sign Read during the transfer window after Roma abandoned their own pursuit because of Feyenoord's valuation.
The Dutch club were reportedly demanding more than €33 million, a figure neither Roma nor Forest were willing to meet.
With both Feyenoord and the player now appearing committed to staying together, Forest are expected to turn their attention towards alternative right-back targets before the transfer deadline.
