Fulham have stepped up their interest in Barcelona full-back Héctor Fort after opening talks over a potential summer transfer, although convincing the defender to leave Camp Nou could prove the biggest obstacle.
The 20-year-old returned to Barcelona this summer following a loan spell at Elche, but his long-term future remains uncertain as Hansi Flick reshapes his squad ahead of the new season.
According to Marca, Fulham have already made contact with both Barcelona and the player's representatives.
Fulham make their move
Fulham are one of several clubs monitoring Fort, with interest also coming from Spain and Germany.
However, the Cottagers are the only Premier League side specifically named as having held discussions over a possible deal.
Despite receiving multiple offers, Fort has been reluctant to leave Barcelona. He also resisted the idea of departing permanently last summer before eventually joining Elche on loan for the 2025/26 campaign.
Barcelona encourage exit
Fulham have received encouragement after fresh reports suggested Barcelona have informed Fort that he must find a new club this summer.
Journalist Nil Solà, speaking via Cadena SER, claims both Fort and midfielder Marc Casadó have been told they are not part of Flick's plans.
The pair have reportedly trained away from the main group as Barcelona take precautions following Roony Bardghji's serious knee injury earlier this week.
Fort remains under contract until 2029, while his reported market value currently stands at around €12 million.
