West Ham remain determined to sign Troy Parrott from AZ Alkmaar and are expected to return with an improved offer after seeing their first bid rejected.

The Hammers have identified the Republic of Ireland international as an attacking target and have already tested AZ's position, although their opening proposal fell below the Dutch club's valuation.

According to Voetbal Primeur, West Ham remain interested and AZ expect to receive a significant fee if the 24-year-old leaves this summer.

West Ham planning improved Troy Parrott offer

Reports surrounding AZ's asking price have varied, with previous claims placing their valuation between €20million and €30m.

West Ham's opening offer did not meet those demands, but the Championship club are expected to return with an improved proposal.

Parrott would already be familiar with London after spending five years at Tottenham before joining AZ permanently in 2024.

His performances in the Netherlands have now put him in position to potentially return to English football.

Parrott recorded an impressive 31 goals and 21 assists across 48 appearances last season, making his attacking output an obvious attraction for a West Ham side looking to strengthen after relegation.

AZ teammate appears to hint at Parrott exit

Parrott missed Saturday's 4-1 league victory over FC Utrecht because of a minor injury, allowing Mexx Meerdink to lead AZ's attack and score.

Speaking afterwards, Meerdink appeared to accidentally suggest his teammate was preparing to leave.

“It is a shame that he is leaving us, but for me it is a great opportunity to prove myself,” Meerdink said. “He deserves a good move.”

When questioned about Parrott's destination, the striker quickly attempted to backtrack.

“No, no, I didn't say that. I don't know,” he responded while laughing.

His comments do not confirm that a transfer has been agreed, but they add further intrigue with West Ham continuing to pursue the former Tottenham forward.
