Liverpool tracking Independiente talent Thiago Veron

Liverpool have identified Independiente youngster Thiago Veron as a player to follow, with the 16-year-old Argentine talent now on the club's scouting list.

Football Place sources understand Liverpool are monitoring Veron's development after the attacking midfielder emerged as one of the more exciting prospects in Independiente's academy.

The interest remains at a very early stage. There are no negotiations taking place and no indication Liverpool are preparing an offer, with the Reds currently focused purely on tracking his progress.

Born in 2010, Veron primarily operates as an attacking midfielder but is capable of playing from either wing.

The left-footer prefers central areas, where his close control, balance and agility allow him to receive possession and operate in tight spaces.

Veron is also comfortable carrying the ball at speed and regularly uses his weaker right foot when dribbling or moving possession.

Another notable feature is his movement behind the forwards. The teenager looks for pockets of space across the opposition half and regularly scans his surroundings before receiving the ball.

His creativity has also attracted attention. Veron can combine through shorter passes while also attempting longer balls and crosses when opportunities develop in the final third.

His profile has similarities to the traditional Argentine ‘enganche’, with freedom to move between midfield and attack and influence play around the forwards.

Liverpool's interest in Veron comes as the club continue identifying young talent across South America.

The Reds recently moved for 17-year-old Samuel Martinez in Colombia, demonstrating their willingness to act early when they believe a prospect has sufficient potential.

There is currently no suggestion Veron's situation has reached that stage.

At 16, his development remains the priority, and Liverpool's interest should currently be viewed as a scouting operation rather than an active transfer pursuit.
