Joshua Zirkzee has been urged to leave Manchester United and join Juventus, with his former youth coach believing the Dutch forward needs a fresh start to revive his career.
The 25-year-old endured another difficult campaign at Old Trafford and has been heavily linked with a return to Serie A this summer.
Former coach backs Juventus move
Speaking to TuttoJuve, Zirkzee's former youth coach Ferry Verbeek admitted he believes a move to Juventus is the right solution.
"I'd almost say it's bound to happen!"
Verbeek believes the striker is entering the most important stage of his career and warned another unsuccessful spell could seriously damage his chances of reaching the highest level.
"Juventus would be a better fit for him than Manchester United."
He added: "If he can't do it at his next club, reaching the top will become increasingly difficult."
Versatility praised
Although Juventus boss Luciano Spalletti is known for demanding specific tactical profiles, Verbeek believes Zirkzee's flexibility makes him an attractive option.
"Joshua can play in any attacking position."
He also suggested the Dutchman has the technical ability to operate as an attacking midfielder thanks to his hold-up play and creativity.
Lack of opportunities hurt progress
Zirkzee struggled for minutes at Manchester United last season, making 24 Premier League appearances, although only five came as starts.
He finished the campaign with two goals and one assist, while slipping further down the attacking pecking order.
Verbeek believes confidence and regular playing time are crucial to unlocking the striker's potential.
"The coach plays a key role: confidence and playing time can really give you wings."
Juventus have already been linked with a loan move, although negotiations remain dependent on developments elsewhere in the Italian club's attacking department.
