AC Milan manager Ruben Amorim is working on a new tactical role for Omari Hutchinson as the winger looks to establish himself at San Siro.
The 22-year-old has struggled for regular playing time since arriving on loan from Nottingham Forest, making just one start in Milan's opening seven matches.
However, according to reports from Italy, Amorim remains confident in Hutchinson's ability and is preparing to give him another opportunity against Salzburg in the Europa League.
Amorim develops two positions for Hutchinson
The international break has allowed Amorim to work individually with several players who remained at Milanello, including Hutchinson.
The Portuguese manager has confirmed that he spent considerable time working with the England youth international to help him understand Milan's tactical system.
Amorim reportedly sees Hutchinson as an option in two positions: a left-footed attacking midfielder and a right wing-back capable of providing cover for Samuel Chukwueze.
That versatility could prove important as the winger attempts to secure more minutes.
Hutchinson has started only once this season, playing 45 minutes against Benfica in the Europa League, alongside limited substitute appearances in Serie A.
He is expected to feature against Salzburg, potentially from the starting line-up.
€50m purchase option complicates Milan future
Hutchinson's long-term future remains uncertain despite Amorim's confidence in his potential.
Milan reportedly paid €4million to secure his loan from Nottingham Forest, with a purchase option worth approximately €50million.
Such a substantial investment would require the former Ipswich Town winger to demonstrate significant improvement over the coming months.
Hutchinson previously developed through Arsenal and Chelsea's academies before impressing at Ipswich, but his subsequent spell at Nottingham Forest proved disappointing.
His performances in Italy will now determine whether Milan consider activating the purchase clause or exploring alternative arrangements.
