Brighton lead race to sign Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji

Brighton & Hove Albion are leading the race to sign Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji, with the Premier League club preparing a formal offer once they complete the sale of Yankuba Minteh.

The Swedish international has struggled for regular opportunities since joining Barcelona from FC Copenhagen in 2025 and is now expected to leave the Camp Nou in search of more first-team football.

According to Sport, Brighton are currently the favourites to secure Bardghji's signature despite strong interest from elsewhere in England.

The 20-year-old reportedly has several offers on the table but is prioritising a club that can guarantee him a prominent role next season.

Brighton are said to be one of two Premier League clubs pushing hardest for the winger, with Fabian Hürzeler's side currently ahead of the competition.

Brighton's move, however, hinges on one important condition.

The Seagulls are first looking to complete the departure of winger Yankuba Minteh before accelerating their pursuit of Bardghji.

According to the report, Brighton will submit a formal offer to Barcelona immediately if Minteh leaves the Amex Stadium.

That delay could open the door for rival clubs to make their own move before Brighton are able to finalise a deal.

Brighton are not the only English club keeping tabs on Bardghji.

Earlier this month, reports in Spain linked Aston Villa, Leeds United, Sunderland, Fulham and Brighton with the Swedish attacker after initial contact was made.

Everton also entered the race shortly afterwards by making an initial approach for the Barcelona youngster.

Despite the growing competition, Brighton remain the club in the strongest position.

Barcelona are open to Bardghji leaving this summer but want to retain influence over his future.

The La Liga champions are reportedly seeking to include a buy-back clause in any agreement, allowing them the opportunity to re-sign the winger if he fulfils his potential elsewhere.

Bardghji believes regular football is now the priority after finding opportunities limited behind Lamine Yamal in Barcelona's attacking hierarchy.

Brighton are expected to step up negotiations for Roony Bardghji if Yankuba Minteh completes his expected departure. Barcelona remain open to a transfer but want to include a buy-back clause, while several Premier League rivals continue to monitor the winger's situation.
