Nottingham Forest agree personal terms with Givairo Read

Nottingham Forest have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Givairo Read over a long-term contract, with the Feyenoord defender now waiting for the two clubs to agree on a transfer fee.

According to De Telegraaf, the 20-year-old right-back has agreed personal terms on a five-year contract at the City Ground, but negotiations between Nottingham Forest and Feyenoord are still ongoing.

The Dutch youngster has made it clear he wants to complete the move to the Premier League.

De Telegraaf reports that Read's representatives have reached a verbal agreement with Nottingham Forest on a contract running until 2031.

The deal is also expected to significantly increase his earnings, with the defender set to earn a salary package worth €20 million plus bonuses over the course of the agreement.

His wages would reportedly be around four times higher than his current salary at Feyenoord.

Forest remain in negotiations with Feyenoord after submitting a third offer on Sunday.

The latest proposal is believed to be worth €22 million, although it has yet to convince the Eredivisie club.

According to De Telegraaf, Nottingham Forest are prepared to increase their offer to a package worth €25 million, with sources close to the club believing that figure should be enough to complete the transfer.

However, Algemeen Dagblad has reported Feyenoord are holding out for a fee in excess of €30 million, highlighting the gap that still exists between the two clubs.

Despite growing interest from England, Feyenoord would prefer Read to remain in Rotterdam for at least another season.

The Dutch club are even attempting to improve the full-back's current contract, which already runs until 2029, although convincing the player to stay could prove difficult.

Read joined Feyenoord on a free transfer from FC Volendam in the summer of 2023 and has developed into one of the Eredivisie's most promising young defenders.

Interest in Read is nothing new.

Bayern Munich and Newcastle United both explored a move for the defender during the winter transfer window before an injury halted any potential transfer.

Now, with personal terms already agreed and Nottingham Forest pushing to reach Feyenoord's valuation, a move to the Premier League appears closer than ever.
