Federico Chiesa makes Liverpool transfer decision clear under Iraola

Federico Chiesa has reaffirmed his desire to remain at Liverpool despite ongoing speculation surrounding his future after another frustrating season for the Italian winger.

The 28-year-old has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter since arriving at Anfield in 2024 and was heavily linked with a return to Serie A throughout last season. However, Chiesa insists his full focus remains on earning a place under new Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola.

After seeing his opportunities limited under former manager Arne Slot, Chiesa is hoping a change in the dugout can provide a fresh opportunity.

Speaking about his future, the Italy international made it clear he is concentrating solely on Liverpool.

"I am doing the best I can to have a chance here - and then we will see."

Despite another managerial change, Chiesa admitted he has experienced plenty of fresh starts since arriving on Merseyside.

"I don't know - it is difficult to say if it is a fresh start under Iraola."

Chiesa featured 26 times in the Premier League last season but started just one league match.

The winger finished the campaign with three goals in all competitions, believing he deserved a larger role within the squad.

"Last year, I felt ready for a bigger role, then it depended on the coach whether he wanted me to play or not."

"Of course I wanted to play more but it is what it is."

"The gaffer decided to do so, he had his gameplans, he took his decisions, I have nothing to say about that. It is football."

Liverpool are entering a new chapter following the appointment of Andoni Iraola.

Chiesa is determined to impress the new manager during pre-season.
