Chelsea are set to receive €2.4 million following Romelu Lukaku's transfer from Napoli to Fenerbahce, with the Blues benefiting from a sell-on clause negotiated when the Belgian striker left Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku has officially joined the Turkish giants after two seasons with Napoli, and while the deal strengthens Fenerbahce's attack, it also provides Chelsea with an unexpected financial boost.

Chelsea cash in through sell-on clause

According to reports in Italy, Fenerbahce have signed Lukaku in a deal worth €6m plus up to €3m in performance-related bonuses.

Chelsea are entitled to 40% of the fixed transfer fee, meaning the Premier League club will receive €2.4m from the move.

The additional bonus payments are not currently included in Chelsea's guaranteed return, with only the fixed portion of the agreement triggering the reported sell-on clause.

Lukaku accepts significant pay cut

The move to Turkey has also seen Lukaku agree to a substantial reduction in salary.

Reports suggest the 33-year-old has lowered his wages from approximately €11m net per season at Napoli to €6.5m net to complete the transfer to Fenerbahce.

The agreement ends Lukaku's spell in Serie A and gives Fenerbahce another experienced forward ahead of the new Süper Lig campaign.

Bonuses could increase Napoli's earnings

While Chelsea's payment is fixed at €2.4m, Napoli could still receive a further €3m in bonuses from Fenerbahce.

According to Sky Sport Italia, €2m is linked to Lukaku's appearances during the 2026/27 season, while an additional €1m will become payable if Fenerbahce win the Turkish league.

Those clauses mean the overall value of the transfer could rise to €9m, although the full amount will depend on sporting performance over the coming months. However, Chelsea's guaranteed income remains based on the fixed €6m transfer fee.

What's Next?

Lukaku will now begin preparations for the new season with Fenerbahce, while Napoli wait to see whether the performance-related bonuses are activated during the campaign.
