Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr has reportedly agreed personal terms with Galatasaray as negotiations continue over a permanent move to Istanbul.
The 23-year-old appears ready to leave Spurs after falling down the midfield pecking order under Roberto De Zerbi, with Galatasaray now increasingly confident of completing the transfer.
According to Africa Foot, Sarr has agreed a three-year contract worth around €9m per season, although it is unclear whether that figure includes bonuses.
The remaining obstacle is an agreement between Galatasaray and Tottenham.
Sarr gives green light to Galatasaray move
Galatasaray's interest in Sarr is not new, with both the Turkish champions and rivals Fenerbahçe linked with the Senegal international earlier this year.
However, Galatasaray have now moved ahead by convincing the midfielder of their project.
Sarr is said to have his heart set on the move and has reached a complete agreement over personal terms.
The reported €9m annual salary represents a significant commitment from Galatasaray and demonstrates how seriously Okan Buruk's side are pursuing the Tottenham midfielder.
Attention now turns towards negotiations with Spurs.
Tottenham and Galatasaray working on agreement
Sarr remains under contract in north London until 2030, meaning Tottenham are in a strong negotiating position.
His market value is currently estimated at around €30m, but no specific asking price or Galatasaray offer has yet been reported.
Africa Foot claims negotiations between the clubs are already progressing well, with optimism that a full agreement can eventually be reached.
Tottenham are also believed to be open to allowing Sarr to leave this summer.
The midfielder made 37 appearances and played 2,212 minutes last season, including 1,389 minutes in the Premier League. However, his role changed significantly following De Zerbi's arrival in March.
Under the Italian, Sarr managed just 67 minutes across four appearances, highlighting how quickly his position within the squad changed.
Tonali and Fernandes arrivals push Sarr towards exit
Tottenham's summer recruitment has made competition even tougher.
Spurs have already strengthened their midfield with the arrivals of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, leaving Sarr facing the prospect of an increasingly restricted role.
That is particularly important with Tottenham only competing domestically this season, reducing the number of matches available for squad rotation.
At 23, regular football will be crucial for Sarr's development, and Galatasaray can potentially provide a much more prominent role.
The Turkish champions have already completed the most important part of negotiations on the player's side. They must now find a transfer agreement that satisfies Tottenham.
Key Points
- Sarr has reportedly agreed a three-year contract with Galatasaray.
- His proposed salary is around €9m per year.
- Galatasaray and Tottenham are already negotiating a transfer agreement.
- Sarr played only 67 minutes under De Zerbi last season.
- The arrivals of Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have increased competition in Tottenham's midfield.
What's Next?
Galatasaray must now turn their agreement with Sarr into an agreement with Tottenham.
With Spurs reportedly prepared to sanction his departure and the player keen on Istanbul, there is optimism surrounding negotiations. The transfer fee remains the major detail still to be resolved.
If the clubs can bridge that gap, Sarr's time at Tottenham could be approaching its conclusion.
Should Tottenham cash in on Pape Matar Sarr after signing Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, or does the 23-year-old still have a role to play under De Zerbi? Have your say.
