Noni Madueke’s reduced role at Arsenal has alerted clubs across Europe, with Atlético Madrid and Juventus reportedly monitoring the winger ahead of the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old played an important part in Arsenal’s Premier League title success last season, but regular opportunities have been much harder to find this term.
Bukayo Saka remains Mikel Arteta’s preferred option on the right, leaving Madueke largely restricted to substitute appearances in the Premier League.
Champions League clubs monitoring Madueke
According to The Telegraph, Atlético and Juventus are long-term admirers of Madueke and are keeping track of his situation.
Other clubs could also become involved if Arsenal indicate they are prepared to consider a January loan.
Madueke has received opportunities in the Community Shield and Carabao Cup, but his limited Premier League minutes have also coincided with him being left out of Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad.
There is currently no indication Arsenal have decided to sanction his departure.
With Arteta’s side competing across four competitions, squad depth remains important, particularly given Saka cannot realistically start every match.
Vieira praise highlights Madueke value
Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira highlighted exactly what Madueke offers during the World Cup.
“You are not going to find somebody better than Madueke” when it comes to making runs behind defenders, Vieira said on The Rest Is Football.
That directness could make Arsenal reluctant to strengthen another club by allowing Madueke to leave halfway through their title defence.
A loan could become attractive from the player's perspective if his situation does not improve, particularly with his England place potentially affected by a lack of regular football.
For now, Atlético and Juventus are watching. The bigger question is whether Arsenal will actually open the door in January.
Key Points
- Atlético Madrid and Juventus are reportedly monitoring Noni Madueke ahead of January.
- The winger has struggled for regular Premier League starts at Arsenal this season.
- Bukayo Saka remains ahead of Madueke on Arsenal’s right flank.
- Madueke was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad.
- Arsenal have not yet indicated they are prepared to sanction a January departure.
What’s Next?
Madueke’s playing time between now and January could determine whether the situation develops into a genuine transfer story.
Arsenal must balance the winger’s desire for regular football against their need for attacking depth across a demanding title defence. Unless Arteta believes he has enough alternatives, allowing Madueke to leave midway through the campaign would carry an obvious risk.
