Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk is attracting interest from several clubs after being cleared to return to football, although the Blues are yet to decide whether the Ukraine international will leave this summer.

According to The Sun and The Daily Mail, three Premier League clubs have made enquiries about Mudryk's availability, with Frank Lampard's Coventry City among the teams monitoring his situation.

However, Chelsea are not expected to make an immediate decision, with new head coach Xabi Alonso keen to assess the winger during pre-season first.

Xabi Alonso wants closer look

Mudryk has rejoined Chelsea's pre-season training camp in Hong Kong after his four-year doping suspension was brought to an early end.

The report states Alonso has welcomed the 25-year-old back warmly, describing him as a "special player" and a "top guy".

Despite that public backing, Chelsea are expected to evaluate Mudryk's performances in pre-season before deciding whether a loan move would be the best option for the upcoming campaign.

Coventry among interested clubs

Coventry City are reportedly one of the clubs showing concrete interest in the winger.

Frank Lampard previously worked with Mudryk during his spell at Chelsea and is understood to be keen on a reunion.

In addition to Coventry, two other unnamed Premier League clubs have made enquiries, while three clubs elsewhere in Europe are also monitoring the situation.

According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea's sister club Strasbourg is among the European sides interested.

Fresh start after difficult period

Mudryk has not played competitively since December 2024 after testing positive for the banned substance meldonium.

The Ukraine international has consistently maintained he did not knowingly take the substance and spent an extended period training individually while serving his suspension.

Chelsea signed Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023 for an initial fee of around €70 million, beating Arsenal to his signature.

Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, he has made 73 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists.

Key Points

  • Mykhailo Mudryk is attracting interest after being cleared to return to football.
  • Coventry City are among three Premier League clubs monitoring the Chelsea winger.
  • Strasbourg are also interested in a potential loan move.
  • Xabi Alonso wants to assess Mudryk during pre-season before making a decision.
  • Chelsea are expected to consider a loan if the winger is not part of Alonso's plans.

What's next?

Chelsea will continue evaluating Mudryk throughout pre-season before deciding whether to keep him in the first-team squad or sanction a loan move. Interest from both the Premier League and Europe means the winger is unlikely to be short of options if Chelsea opt to let him leave temporarily.
