Bournemouth are closing in on a surprise move for Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, with the 29-year-old already giving his approval to a move to the Premier League.

The Cherries are now negotiating the financial details with Juventus, who have already prepared for Di Gregorio's departure by signing Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham.

A loan with an option to buy is currently being discussed.

Di Gregorio gives Bournemouth green light

According to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Di Gregorio is now “very close” to joining Bournemouth.

Importantly, the goalkeeper has already given his approval to the transfer, removing one potential obstacle from negotiations.

Bournemouth and Juventus must now reach an agreement over the structure and financial terms of the deal.

The current proposal would see Di Gregorio arrive on loan with an option to buy, although the value of that option has not yet been revealed.

There is therefore still work required before the transfer can be completed, but Bournemouth are now in a strong position.

Juventus ready for goalkeeper exit

Di Gregorio's future in Turin had already become increasingly uncertain following a difficult campaign.

Juventus were prepared to find the Italian a new club this summer, and he was previously linked with a move to Arsenal as a potential back-up goalkeeper.

That possibility did not progress.

Instead, Bournemouth have now moved into pole position after Juventus completed the signing of Vicario from Tottenham.

The arrival of the former Spurs goalkeeper gives Juventus a direct replacement and makes it considerably easier for them to sanction Di Gregorio's departure before the deadline.

Bournemouth move quickly for Di Gregorio

The speed of Bournemouth's move is notable.

This is no longer simply a case of the Cherries monitoring the goalkeeper. Di Gregorio has approved the transfer and the clubs are actively working to finalise an agreement.

A Premier League switch would also provide the 29-year-old with an opportunity to make a fresh start after his difficult final season in Turin.

The remaining question is whether Bournemouth and Juventus can settle on acceptable financial terms for the purchase option.
