Manchester United have reportedly renewed contact with the representatives of Borussia Dortmund defender Julian Ryerson as his impressive World Cup performances attract growing interest.

The 28-year-old has been on United’s radar for some time, but his displays for Norway appear to have strengthened interest in a possible summer move.

According to BILD, Michael Carrick’s side have recently made fresh contact with Ryerson’s camp. Several other major European clubs are also monitoring the situation.

Manchester United renew Julian Ryerson interest

Ryerson has played an important role in Norway’s World Cup campaign and produced one of his best performances in the victory over Brazil.

While Erling Haaland attracted much of the attention, Ryerson was also singled out for an outstanding display. The Dortmund full-back impressed defensively against Vinicius Junior and was considered one of Norway’s strongest performers.

His form in the tournament follows an excellent club season in Germany.

Ryerson recorded 15 Bundesliga assists last season, establishing himself as one of the league’s most productive players. His pace, physical strength and ability in one-on-one situations could make him well suited to the demands of the Premier League.

United have reportedly kept him on their list of defensive options for some time. The latest contact suggests their interest remains active, although there is no indication that a formal offer has been submitted.

Dortmund want €30m for Ryerson

Borussia Dortmund would reportedly require an offer of around €30m before considering a sale.

The German club would prefer to keep Ryerson and are planning to discuss a new contract once his World Cup campaign is over. However, increasing interest from England could complicate those plans.

Much will depend on whether Manchester United are prepared to meet Dortmund’s valuation. Ryerson’s performances for Norway are raising his profile, but it remains too early to know whether renewed contact will develop into formal negotiations.
