Fiorentina have completed the signing of Radu Drăgușin from Tottenham, bringing the Romania international back to Serie A after two seasons in the Premier League.
The defender had already been on Fiorentina's radar during the January transfer window, but the two clubs failed to agree on the structure of a deal. This summer, however, an agreement has finally been reached.
Fiorentina agree Drăgușin deal
Drăgușin joins Fiorentina on an initial loan worth €1.5 million, with an obligation to buy set at €17.5 million.
As part of the agreement, Tottenham have also secured a percentage of any future capital gain should Fiorentina sell the defender later in his career.
The total package is worth close to €19 million, representing a significant investment from the Serie A club.
The move has been led by sporting director Fabio Paratici, who has admired Drăgușin since their time together at Juventus.
Tottenham defender returns to Serie A
The 24-year-old leaves Tottenham after falling out of Roberto De Zerbi's plans ahead of the new season.
Having previously represented Juventus, Sampdoria, Salernitana and Genoa, Drăgușin is no stranger to Italian football and was eager to return to Serie A.
Fiorentina believe his experience and physical presence will strengthen their defence immediately, with the Romanian expected to become a regular starter during the 2026/27 campaign.
Busy summer continues for Fiorentina
Drăgușin becomes another major arrival during an ambitious summer for Fiorentina.
The club have also secured the signing of former AC Milan defender Alex Jimenez from Bournemouth and continue working on deals for Burnley winger Luca Koleosho and Sassuolo midfielder Kristian Thorstvedt.
Meanwhile, there could also be departures before the transfer window closes.
Right-back Dodô has emerged as a target for Napoli, who reportedly view the Brazilian as an alternative option after difficulties in pursuing other defensive targets.
