Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola faces several selection decisions ahead of Wednesday's Carabao Cup fourth-round clash against Chelsea at Anfield.

The Reds head into the tie following a 2–0 Premier League victory over Brighton, extending their winning run to four matches across all competitions.

However, Florian Wirtz's ankle injury and several defensive absences could force Iraola to adjust his starting line-up against Xabi Alonso's side.

Liverpool injury latest ahead of Chelsea clash

Wirtz remains a doubt after twisting his ankle during Sunday's victory over Brighton.

The German was replaced by Trey Nyoni after 65 minutes, although Iraola indicated the injury did not initially appear serious.

Liverpool could nevertheless rest Wirtz as a precaution, particularly with Sunday's Premier League meeting against Arsenal approaching.

Conor Bradley, Jeremie Frimpong, Dominik Szoboszlai, Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni remain sidelined, while Victor Muñoz is also a fitness doubt.

The absences of Bradley and Frimpong leave Liverpool short of recognised right-back options.

Ronald Araújo could continue on the right, allowing Virgil van Dijk and Jérémy Jacquet to retain their central defensive partnership.

Milos Kerkez is another candidate to keep his place, although Joe Gomez offers Iraola an alternative in defence.

Isak and Barcola among Liverpool attacking options

Alexander Isak strengthened his case to start by scoring his sixth Premier League goal of the season against Brighton.

Bradley Barcola provided the assist for the Swedish striker and could also retain his place against Chelsea.

However, Iraola may consider rotating his forwards before the Arsenal fixture.

Rio Ngumoha is pushing for a start after featuring in Liverpool's previous Carabao Cup victory over Tottenham, while Cody Gakpo and Lewis Koumas provide further attacking options.

If Wirtz is unavailable, Nyoni could move into the attacking midfield role, supported by Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch.

Giorgi Mamardashvili is also expected to replace Alisson Becker in goal after featuring in the previous round.
