Arsenal youngster Max Dowman is expected to start against Fleetwood Town as Mikel Arteta prepares to rotate his squad for Tuesday's Carabao Cup fourth-round clash.

The Gunners travel to Highbury Stadium seeking a place in the quarter-finals, with a crucial Premier League meeting against Liverpool approaching this weekend.

Arteta could rest several senior players while giving opportunities to emerging talents and those returning from injury.

Dowman tipped to start against Fleetwood

Dowman is among the players expected to benefit from Arsenal's squad rotation.

The teenager impressed in the previous round, scoring twice against Ipswich Town, and could start on the right wing.

Asked whether Dowman would feature from the beginning, Arteta responded: "Let's see."

Seventeen-year-old defender Marli Salmon could also receive an opportunity, potentially partnering Cristhian Mosquera in central defence.

Piero Hincapié and Martin Zubimendi are among the other players pushing for starts.

Meanwhile, Declan Rice, Martin Ødegaard, Gabriel and Riccardo Calafiori could be rested ahead of the Liverpool fixture.

Arsenal injury latest

Bukayo Saka and William Saliba remain unavailable through injury.

Christos Tzolis has stepped up his recovery from a hamstring problem and is expected to return to first-team training this week, although Tuesday's match could arrive too soon.

Calafiori is also a doubt, while Mosquera and Hincapié could benefit from additional minutes following their respective fitness setbacks.

With Saka sidelined, Arteta may also protect Noni Madueke, who has become increasingly important in Arsenal's attack.

Viktor Gyökeres could lead the line as he continues searching for his first Arsenal goal of the season.
