Leeds United keep Ermedin Demirović on radar as Stuttgart raise asking price

Leeds United remain interested in Stuttgart striker Ermedin Demirović after failing to secure the Bosnia and Herzegovina international during the summer transfer window.

Daniel Farke’s side were described as “very keen” on the 28-year-old in July, when Stuttgart were reportedly prepared to consider a sale for the right offer. No deal materialised, but Leeds have not abandoned their interest.

Demirović has strengthened his position since then, scoring four goals in five matches this season, including a Champions League hat-trick against Viking.

According to Tutto Juve, Leeds are still pursuing Demirović but face significant competition.

Juventus have sent scouts to watch the striker this season, although the Serie A club have not yet opened talks with Stuttgart or the player’s representatives.

AC Milan and Galatasaray are also credited with interest, meaning Leeds could face a difficult battle if they decide to make another attempt.

Demirović’s record explains the growing attention. He has produced 36 goals and 11 assists in 92 appearances since joining Stuttgart from Freiburg in 2024, including 15 goals and five assists last season.

His contract runs until 2028, leaving Stuttgart in a strong negotiating position.

The biggest change since Leeds explored a summer deal appears to be Demirović’s valuation.

Reports from Bosnia previously suggested a figure around €30million could have been enough to tempt Stuttgart into negotiations. Tutto Juve now claims the Bundesliga club want at least €35million and are unwilling to offer a discount.

That price could rise further if Demirović maintains his goalscoring form and additional clubs enter the race.

For Leeds, the question is whether another striker remains a priority. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has started the season positively under Farke, scoring three times in his opening six appearances across all competitions and earning an England recall.

Demirović would nevertheless offer another experienced goalscoring option, and the continued reports of Leeds interest suggest he remains a player worth monitoring ahead of future transfer windows.

There is also reason for caution, however, with the possibility that Premier League interest is being highlighted to strengthen Stuttgart’s negotiating position.

Leeds will have time to assess whether another striker is necessary before the January transfer window, particularly if Calvert-Lewin continues his encouraging start.

Demirović’s performances will also influence the situation. More goals for Stuttgart could strengthen their €35million valuation and make any future Leeds move increasingly expensive.
