Nottingham Forest forward Jota Silva is reportedly set to join Olympiacos after a managerial change altered his prospects at the City Ground.

According to Portuguese journalist Sebastião Sousa-Pinto, Olympiacos have reached an agreement with Forest for the 26-year-old to move to Greece on loan with an option to buy.

Jota Silva has also reportedly approved the transfer, leaving only the final formalities before the deal can be completed. The move would see him spend a second consecutive season away from Nottingham Forest after his loan spell at Besiktas.

Jota Silva agrees Olympiacos transfer

The latest development represents a significant change in Jota Silva’s situation.

Only a few weeks ago, the Portugal international suggested he was prepared to return to Forest and fight for his place during pre-season.

“I will report for duty and do everything possible to have a great season individually and collectively, whether at Nottingham or another club I represent.” — Jota Silva, Record

Another transfer always remained possible, but Jota Silva appeared open to rebuilding his Forest career. The reported agreement with Olympiacos now suggests his immediate future lies away from the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest managerial change alters Jota Silva future

The change in manager at Nottingham Forest may have played an important role.

Vítor Pereira was believed to be an admirer of Jota Silva, but Oliver Glasner's arrival appears to have created a different outlook for the winger. Forest could now be reshaping the squad around the new manager's plans.

Jota Silva has already experienced transfer uncertainty during his time at the club. A proposed move to Sporting collapsed last summer after the registration process reportedly missed the deadline by one minute.

He subsequently joined Besiktas on loan and is now close to another temporary departure.

A move to Olympiacos would also keep Jota Silva within Evangelos Marinakis' football network, potentially making the agreement easier for all parties to complete.

Key Points

  • Nottingham Forest have reportedly agreed to loan Jota Silva to Olympiacos.
  • The transfer includes an option for the Greek club to buy the 26-year-old.
  • Jota Silva has given the green light and only final formalities remain.
  • Oliver Glasner's arrival may have changed the winger's prospects at Forest.
  • The Olympiacos move would follow Jota Silva's season on loan at Besiktas.

What’s next?

Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest are expected to complete the remaining formalities before Jota Silva's move is finalised.

The key question will then be whether the Portuguese attacker can do enough in Greece to turn the loan into a permanent transfer. For Forest, the deal would provide a solution for a player whose future appears to have changed following Glasner's appointment.

Can Jota Silva rebuild his career at Olympiacos and earn a permanent move?
