Inter Milan remain interested in Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence, but the Premier League club's reported €30 million valuation is becoming a significant obstacle as the Serie A side assess their options.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Inter continue to monitor Spence after missing out on Marco Palestra to Chelsea, although there are growing doubts within the club over whether the 25-year-old represents value for money.

The report follows claims that Spence is open to leaving Tottenham this summer, with the defender said to favour a move to a club competing in the UEFA Champions League.

Inter weigh up whether Spence is the right fit

Inter are looking to strengthen at right wing-back but are reportedly working with a reduced budget, making value a key factor in their decision-making.

Italian reports suggest the club wants a player who can offer both immediate experience and long-term potential. While Spence fits the age profile, questions have reportedly been raised over his previous spell in Serie A with Genoa, where he failed to convince the club to trigger a permanent €10 million purchase option.

His situation at Tottenham has also been noted. Despite enjoying more opportunities last season, Spence has often found himself behind Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie in the pecking order, limiting his chances to establish himself as an undisputed starter.

Price tag remains the biggest concern

The reported €30 million asking price is understood to be the main stumbling block.

Inter are preparing for the departure of Denzel Dumfries, who is expected to leave for around €20 million, making Tottenham's valuation difficult to justify from the Italian club's perspective. Reports also point to Spence's limited attacking output, with just one goal and one assist in his senior career, as Inter consider the demands of Simone Inzaghi's wing-back system.

As a result, alternative targets are already under consideration. Nottingham Forest's Dan Ndoye is among the names reportedly admired, with his versatility and previous performances in Serie A making him an attractive option should talks over Spence fail to progress.

Key Points

  • Inter Milan remain interested in Tottenham defender Djed Spence.
  • Tottenham are reportedly seeking around €30 million for the full-back.
  • Inter have reservations over both the valuation and Spence's previous Serie A spell.
  • The Nerazzurri are searching for a replacement for Denzel Dumfries.
  • Nottingham Forest's Dan Ndoye is also being considered as an alternative.

What's next?

Inter are expected to continue evaluating their right wing-back shortlist before deciding whether to formalise their interest in Spence. Unless Tottenham lower their asking price or negotiations evolve, the Serie A club could prioritise alternative targets as they look to strengthen before the new season.

Would Djed Spence be a success in Serie A with Inter Milan, or should the Italian giants pursue a different option this summer?
