Harry Kane set to snub Tottenham return as Bayern Munich prepare new contract offer

Harry Kane is poised to commit his long-term future to Bayern Munich, with the England captain expected to open talks over a new contract that would effectively end speculation about a return to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 33-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his current deal in Bavaria, but Bayern are eager to secure his future before the new season gets underway.

According to The Times, Bayern Munich are ready to offer Kane a three-year extension when he returns for pre-season.

The proposed deal would keep the striker at the Allianz Arena until just before his 36th birthday, extending a contract currently worth around £21.5 million per year.

There is understood to be confidence on all sides that an agreement can be reached.

For much of Kane's time in Germany, there has been widespread speculation that he would eventually return to the Premier League once he had won major trophies abroad.

Tottenham were consistently viewed as the most likely destination should the club's all-time leading scorer come back to England.

A return would also have given Kane the chance to chase Alan Shearer's Premier League scoring record of 260 goals, with the England captain currently sitting 47 goals behind the former Newcastle United striker.

However, that now appears to be taking a back seat.

Having already collected two Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich, Kane is now focused on winning the Champions League.

The striker believes Bayern are capable of challenging for European football's biggest prize, making an extended stay in Germany his preferred option.

Kane enjoyed another outstanding campaign last season, scoring 61 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions.

That incredible return took his overall tally to 146 goals in just three seasons for Bayern Munich, underlining why the German champions are so determined to secure his future.

His performances have also placed him among the favourites to win this year's Ballon d'Or, with the prestigious award set to be presented in London this October.

A new contract would represent another significant statement from Bayern and would all but end hopes among Tottenham supporters of seeing their legendary striker return to north London before the end of his career.
