Everton and Hull City in race for Brooke Norton-Cuffy as Genoa manager confirms transfer talks

Brooke Norton-Cuffy's future at Genoa appears increasingly uncertain, with Everton and Hull City both emerging as contenders to bring the defender back to England this summer.

The 22-year-old right-back has been linked with a Premier League return for several months, and his omission from Genoa's latest pre-season fixture has only intensified speculation surrounding his future.

Norton-Cuffy was left out of Genoa's squad for the weekend friendly against Deportivo La Coruña, prompting questions about his absence.

Manager Daniele De Rossi admitted the decision was linked to ongoing transfer discussions rather than fitness concerns.

Speaking after the match, via Gianluca Di Marzio, he said: "There are transfer issues. He's doing well, he's growing a lot, but I've been told there are transfer issues and we've rested him."

The comments represent the clearest indication yet that Genoa are preparing for the possibility of the defender leaving before the transfer window closes.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, both Everton and Hull City are interested in signing Norton-Cuffy and are prepared to offer close to €12 million.

However, Genoa's valuation remains considerably higher.

The Serie A side reportedly want €20 million before sanctioning a sale, leaving negotiations at a standstill for the time being.

Everton's admiration for Norton-Cuffy is not new.

The Toffees were heavily linked with the former Arsenal academy graduate during the January transfer window, when they were reported to be ahead of West Ham United in the race for his signature.

Despite that interest, David Moyes' side never followed up with a formal bid.

Now another opportunity has emerged, with Genoa seemingly open to selling if their valuation is met.

Although Juventus, Inter Milan and Roma have all been credited with interest in recent months, reports suggest a return to England is now the most likely outcome.

Everton are described as the club showing the strongest interest, while Hull City are also attempting to position themselves for a deal.
