Tottenham Hotspur are refusing to sanction a loan exit for Guglielmo Vicario as Juventus consider a move for the goalkeeper this summer.

The 29-year-old reportedly wants to return to Italy and has asked Spurs for a transfer, but the north London club are only interested in a permanent deal. Juventus remain in the picture, although Tottenham’s €15 million to €20 million valuation is currently proving difficult for the Serie A side.

Tottenham demand permanent Guglielmo Vicario transfer

Juventus have been searching for a new goalkeeper and previously showed strong interest in Emi Martínez. With no deal developing for the Aston Villa player, Vicario has emerged as an alternative.

There had been suggestions that a loan could provide a route to Turin, potentially with guarantees over a future permanent transfer. Tottenham have now closed that option.

According to TuttoJuve, Spurs will only discuss a permanent sale.

Vicario is said to have specifically requested a return to Italy, but that has not persuaded Tottenham to soften their position. The club want between €15 million and €20 million before allowing him to leave.

Juventus need goalkeeper sales before making move

Juventus’ interest has not disappeared, but their own squad situation is delaying any serious advance.

Mattia Perin and Michele Di Gregorio are both expected to leave Turin. However, neither departure has yet been completed, restricting the funds available for another goalkeeper.

Both players are reportedly valued at around €11 million. Successful sales would give Juventus more room to meet Tottenham’s demands and could bring Vicario’s future back into focus.

Until then, the Italian club appear to be waiting for movement.

Why Tottenham are holding firm over Vicario exit

Tottenham’s stance gives them greater control over the situation.

A loan would remove Vicario from the squad without guaranteeing a meaningful return, while a permanent transfer would provide immediate funds for a replacement or other summer business. By refusing a temporary exit, Spurs are placing the pressure on Juventus to create the financial space required for a deal.

Vicario’s reported desire to return to Italy adds another element, but Tottenham are under no obligation to accept a structure that does not suit them.

Much will therefore depend on Juventus selling Perin or Di Gregorio. However, no agreement has been reached and it remains too early to assume Vicario will leave Spurs this summer.

Key Points

  • Tottenham will not allow Guglielmo Vicario to leave on loan.
  • Spurs reportedly want between €15 million and €20 million for a permanent transfer.
  • Vicario is said to have asked Tottenham for a move back to Italy.
  • Juventus remain interested but currently consider the price too high.
  • Sales of Mattia Perin and Michele Di Gregorio could unlock a Juventus move.

What’s next?

Juventus are likely to wait for progress on the futures of Perin and Di Gregorio before making a serious move for Vicario. If one or both goalkeepers are sold, the Italian club could gain the funds and squad space needed to approach Tottenham.

Spurs, meanwhile, appear determined to maintain their permanent-sale-only position. Unless Juventus raise the required money or another buyer emerges, Vicario’s proposed return to Italy could remain on hold.

Should Tottenham accept €15 million for Guglielmo Vicario, or hold out for more?
