Nottingham Forest confident of completing Givairo Read transfer

Nottingham Forest remain confident of signing Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read despite seeing multiple offers rejected, with reports in the Netherlands suggesting the transfer is now expected to happen.

The 20-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Forest, while the Premier League club prepare to submit another improved bid after their latest proposal was turned down.

Nottingham Forest have made Read one of their priority defensive targets this summer.

The club have already had three bids rejected, including a latest offer worth around €22 million, but remain willing to increase their proposal to approximately €25 million in an effort to secure a deal.

The Dutch defender has reportedly reached a verbal agreement on a five-year contract and is now waiting for the two clubs to finalise a transfer.

Dutch outlet Feyenoord Transfermarkt claims Read's move to the City Ground is now "simply going to happen".

Although negotiations continue, confidence is growing that an agreement will eventually be reached as Nottingham Forest continue to push for the highly-rated full-back.

Feyenoord, however, are holding firm and have so far rejected every offer made by the Premier League side.

Former Feyenoord general manager Dennis te Kloese has denied reports that he negotiated a €25 million release agreement before leaving the club.

He insisted there are no fixed buyout clauses in Feyenoord contracts but confirmed several major European clubs had previously shown concrete interest in Read.

Te Kloese revealed Bayern Munich came close to signing the defender before a January move collapsed after the youngster suffered an injury.

According to Te Kloese, Nottingham Forest are now attempting to complete a deal before Europe's biggest clubs return for the Netherlands Under-21 international.

He believes Read would likely have joined Bayern Munich or another leading Premier League side had his injury not interrupted negotiations earlier this year.

Forest are now hoping to take advantage of that situation by securing one of Dutch football's brightest young defenders before competition intensifies again.

Nottingham Forest are expected to return with another improved offer after Feyenoord rejected their latest €22 million bid. With personal terms already agreed, negotiations will continue as Forest attempt to reach the Dutch club's valuation of Givairo Read.
