Raúl Jiménez believes Arsenal and Liverpool target Gilberto Mora has the quality to play at the highest level, but has suggested Borussia Dortmund could be an ideal next step for the Mexican teenager.

Mora, 17, is attracting significant European interest, with Arsenal and Liverpool both linked with moves for the highly-rated youngster.

Liverpool have reportedly gone further by submitting an offer through Mora's agent, although there has been no confirmation that a transfer has been agreed.

Amid growing speculation over Mora's future, Mexico teammate Jiménez believes the teenager is already capable of making a significant move.

Jiménez backs Mora for major European move

“He has what it takes to play anywhere,” Jiménez told Claro Sports.

“But he could also take it step by step, gradually, just as has happened with many players. They go to slightly smaller leagues and then make the leap, like Argentines and Brazilians who are signed by Dutch or Portuguese teams.

“Well, given his quality and his future, I think he could do well if he starts out in a top league.”

Despite interest from two major Premier League clubs, Jiménez believes Germany or Spain could provide a suitable environment for Mora's development.

Borussia Dortmund could suit Mora

The Fulham striker specifically identified Borussia Dortmund when asked where he would like to see his international teammate play.

“Where would I like to see him? Germany could work, Borussia Dortmund, perhaps… it fits his style,” Jiménez said.

“Or Spain, where the league is a bit more technical and, at times, not as physical. I think he could adapt well there.”

Dortmund's reputation for developing young players makes Jiménez's suggestion particularly interesting, although there is no indication in the supplied reporting that the German club are currently pursuing Mora.

For Arsenal and Liverpool, Jiménez's comments instead underline the growing reputation of a player already attracting attention from some of Europe's biggest clubs at just 17.
