Juventus are reportedly monitoring Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie ahead of the January transfer window, although claims that the Italian could be available for just €15million appear dependent on Spurs changing their position.

Udogie attracted interest from Serie A during the summer, most notably from Roma, but Tottenham were unwilling to open the door to his departure.

The 23-year-old has remained part of Roberto De Zerbi's plans this season, making five appearances across all competitions while sharing left-back duties with Andy Robertson.

Despite that involvement, Juventus reportedly believe there could be an opportunity to bring Udogie back to Italy in January.

Juventus closely monitoring Udogie

According to TuttoJuve, Juventus are keeping a close eye on the Tottenham defender as they consider strengthening at left-back.

The Turin club are said to view Udogie as an attractive option as they seek to increase the Italian core of their squad.

Juventus reportedly believe Tottenham do not consider Udogie an automatic starter and hope that could eventually make Spurs more receptive to negotiations.

The report goes further by suggesting a deal could potentially be available for around €15m.

There is no indication from the supplied reporting, however, that Tottenham have actually placed that valuation on Udogie.

Tottenham resisted Roma interest in summer

Spurs' stance during the previous transfer window provides an important counterpoint to the latest claims.

Roma were widely reported to be interested in Udogie and had initially been optimistic about their chances of completing a deal.

Tottenham did not encourage a departure and maintained demands that ultimately resulted in Roma moving away from the transfer.

That makes the suggestion of a €15m January deal notable, particularly given Udogie remains involved under De Zerbi.

The figure appears to be linked partly to Udogie's current book value, which TuttoJuve places between €7m and €9m, rather than confirmation of Tottenham's asking price.

Accounting value and market valuation are not necessarily the same, meaning Juventus may still need to make a considerably larger offer if Spurs are to reconsider their position.

Juventus need another left-back

There is a clearer reason for Juventus' interest from a squad-building perspective.

Juan Cabal is reportedly no longer part of their plans, while Andrea Cambiaso is currently their main specialist option at left-back.

Adding another player in that position is therefore expected to be a priority in January.

Udogie's Serie A background and Premier League experience make him an obvious candidate, while at 23 he would also offer Juventus a player with significant potential for further development.

Whether Tottenham are prepared to cooperate is another question.

Key Points

  • Juventus are reportedly monitoring Tottenham left-back Destiny Udogie ahead of January.
  • TuttoJuve claims the Italian could potentially become available for around €15million.
  • There is no indication that Tottenham themselves have set a €15m asking price.
  • Spurs resisted interest from Roma during the summer and did not encourage Udogie's departure.
  • Udogie has made five appearances this season while rotating with Andy Robertson.
  • Juventus are looking for another left-back, with Andrea Cambiaso currently their primary specialist option.
  • Udogie's reported book value of €7m–€9m appears to be influencing the €15m transfer suggestion.

What’s Next?

Juventus' interest could become more significant as the January window approaches, particularly given their need at left-back. The central issue will be Tottenham's valuation: Spurs resisted selling Udogie during the summer, and the supplied reporting does not establish that their position has changed or that they would accept the reported €15m figure.
