Fulham handed fitness boost as Alvaro Arbeloa confirms just one absentee for Crystal Palace clash

Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa has confirmed Tom Cairney is his only unavailable player ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Crystal Palace.

The Cottagers therefore head into the game at Craven Cottage with an almost fully-fit squad, although Arbeloa has suggested supporters may have to wait to see the club’s latest signings in the starting XI.

Hugo Larsson, Manuel Angel and David Affengruber have all strengthened Fulham’s squad, but the trio are still adapting to their new surroundings and the demands of Arbeloa’s system.

Arbeloa confirmed his new arrivals are available but indicated none are likely to start against Palace.

“The players are all ready except Tom Cairney,” Arbeloa said.

“Be patient with these three (new) players. They need to understand what we want from them.

“I don’t think the new players are ready to start yet.”

The comments suggest Larsson, Angel and Affengruber could still be included in the matchday squad, giving Arbeloa additional options from the bench.

Cairney’s absence leaves Fulham with just one confirmed player unavailable for the London derby.

That represents a significant boost for Arbeloa as he looks to build continuity in his side rather than immediately relying on the club’s latest additions.

The Fulham boss appears determined to give his new players sufficient time to understand their roles before handing them starting places.

Fulham also retained Kenny Tete after the right-back’s proposed transfer to Everton failed to materialise.

Arbeloa welcomed the outcome and believes Tete’s experience and familiarity with Fulham will continue to be valuable.

“He’s very happy to be here in another season,” Arbeloa said.

“He has experience, he knows perfectly the club primarily and of course he will be another player who has been doing so great during the first season.

“So yeah, we’re happy with him.”

Tete’s continued presence gives Fulham another established option as Arbeloa integrates the new faces into his squad.

Fulham host Crystal Palace at Craven Cottage on Saturday, with Arbeloa expected to rely primarily on his established players while gradually introducing his summer signings.
