Nottingham Forest enter Curtis Jones race as transfer preference revealed

Nottingham Forest have reportedly entered the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, although the England international remains focused on completing a move to Inter Milan.

Forest have made fresh advances in recent days as they continue planning for life after Elliot Anderson's expected departure. However, reports from Italy suggest Jones has already made his preferred destination clear, leaving Vítor Pereira's side needing patience if they are to stand any chance of completing the transfer.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Nottingham Forest have stepped up their interest in Jones over the past few days.

The Reds are searching for midfield reinforcements and have identified the Liverpool academy graduate as a potential addition.

Forest's interest comes after Inter Milan encountered difficulties in negotiations with Liverpool, raising hopes that other clubs could enter the race.

However, despite Nottingham Forest's approach, Jones is reportedly prioritising a move to the San Siro.

The report claims Jones has wanted to join Inter since January, when a transfer reportedly came close to materialising.

That desire has not changed despite renewed interest from the Premier League.

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio recently admitted negotiations with Liverpool would not be straightforward, even suggesting the Serie A champions could eventually abandon the deal.

Liverpool are understood to value Jones at around €30 million, while Inter's opening offer fell short of that figure.

The Italian club are now waiting to see whether Liverpool soften their demands later in the transfer window.

Jones remains under contract at Anfield until 2027, although reports suggest he has so far declined Liverpool's attempts to extend his current deal.

That situation makes him an attractive target for several clubs without forcing Liverpool into an immediate sale.

The club appears ready to reinvest after the expected sale of Elliot Anderson. Should that transfer be completed, Forest would have the financial flexibility to meet Liverpool's valuation if required. Even so, convincing Jones to abandon his preferred move to Inter may prove the biggest obstacle rather than agreeing a fee.

Inter Milan must now decide whether to improve their offer or risk losing Jones to another club later in the transfer window. Nottingham Forest are expected to remain interested, but any realistic chance of completing the deal may depend on the Italian side withdrawing from negotiations.
