Crysencio Summerville has been backed to join Aston Villa and take his game to the next level after an impressive World Cup with the Netherlands.

The West Ham winger is attracting interest following the club’s relegation, with Manchester United reportedly opening exploratory talks over a possible move.

However, European football expert Andy Brassell believes Villa could provide the ideal environment for the 24-year-old to “explode” in the Premier League next season.

Aston Villa backed to sign Crysencio Summerville

Summerville endured an injury-hit first season at West Ham but rediscovered his best form last term, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 31 Premier League appearances.

He then enhanced his reputation at the World Cup, registering four goal contributions in four matches before the Netherlands were eliminated by Morocco on penalties.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Brassell highlighted the winger’s ability to offer more than pace and dribbling.

“The fact that he’s not just a dribbler, he’s not just an assister, he’s not just a scorer, he’s all of these things,” Brassell said.

He believes Summerville is now ready to become a major Premier League player if he chooses the right club.

“I wonder if he could be a potential Aston Villa player going into next season,” he added.

Manchester United and Fulham also interested

Manchester United have reportedly opened exploratory talks with West Ham, while Fulham are also interested. Tottenham made an enquiry in January.

Villa could still offer an attractive alternative. Jadon Sancho is not expected to remain at the club, potentially creating space for another wide attacker.

Brassell believes Summerville’s ability to play wide or move into central areas could suit Villa, although their transfer plans may depend on financial restrictions and player sales.

West Ham’s relegation also creates uncertainty over the winger’s future. Summerville previously excelled in the Championship with Leeds, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists in the 2023/24 season, but his recent Premier League and World Cup form could now lead to another top-flight move.

Key Points

  • Crysencio Summerville has been backed to join Aston Villa.
  • He recorded four goal contributions in four World Cup appearances.
  • Manchester United have reportedly opened exploratory talks with West Ham.
  • Fulham and Tottenham have also shown interest.

What’s next?

Summerville’s future is likely to become clearer as interested clubs decide whether to turn their interest into formal offers.

Manchester United have already explored a possible deal, but Villa could offer the winger an important role following Sancho’s expected departure. West Ham must also decide whether they can keep one of their most valuable attackers after relegation.

Would Aston Villa be a better move for Summerville than Manchester United?
