Chelsea could have an opportunity to sign highly rated Bayern Munich goalkeeper Leonard Prescott next summer, with the teenager's contract negotiations reportedly at a standstill.

The 17-year-old is entering the final months of his current deal and has attracted interest from several European clubs, including Juventus.

According to Sky Deutschland, Prescott is increasingly uncertain about his long-term prospects at Bayern, raising the possibility of a free transfer in 2027.

Chelsea monitoring Prescott's contract situation

Chelsea and Juventus have reportedly tracked Prescott throughout 2026 and remain interested in his development.

The Germany Under-17 international joined Bayern's academy from Union Berlin in 2023 before progressing into the Under-19 squad.

He made 16 appearances at that level last season and featured four times in the UEFA Youth League.

Although promoted to Bayern's reserve team during the summer, Prescott has yet to make his debut for either the reserves or the senior side.

Sky Deutschland reports that negotiations over a contract extension have stalled for several months, with no breakthrough currently in sight.

Bayern Munich goalkeeper concerned about pathway

Prescott's hesitation reportedly centres on his chances of eventually becoming Bayern's first-choice goalkeeper.

Manuel Neuer remains the club's No.1, while Jonas Urbig has been identified as his long-term successor.

That succession plan has reportedly left Prescott's representatives questioning whether the teenager has a realistic pathway into Bayern's senior team.

Chelsea, Juventus and several Bundesliga clubs are monitoring the situation as uncertainty grows over his future.

However, there is no indication that Chelsea have submitted a formal offer.

Chelsea transfer would require patience

Chelsea signed Emiliano Martínez from Aston Villa in August, meaning Prescott would not immediately compete for the first-choice position at Stamford Bridge.

The teenager also faces an eligibility complication.

Under the circumstances described in the report, he would not be able to play for Chelsea until turning 18 in September 2027.

A summer move would therefore require Chelsea to arrange a suitable development plan while he waits to become eligible.

  • The 17-year-old's contract expires next summer, with renewal negotiations stalled.
  • Prescott is concerned about his long-term first-team prospects at Bayern.
  • Manuel Neuer remains Bayern's first choice, with Jonas Urbig viewed as his successor.

Bayern Munich will attempt to resolve Prescott's contract situation before he becomes available next summer. Chelsea and Juventus could increase their interest if talks remain stalled, but the goalkeeper's development pathway is likely to be central to any decision.
