Chelsea have confirmed that Dastan Satpayev has joined Burnley on a season-long loan, sending the highly-rated 18-year-old out for regular first-team football immediately after his arrival from Kairat.
Satpayev was involved throughout Chelsea's pre-season preparations under Xabi Alonso and even found the net during the club's tour of Australia and Asia.
He will now continue his development in the Championship with Burnley, where he should have opportunities both through the middle and out wide.
Satpayev heads straight out on loan
Satpayev officially joined Chelsea from Kairat this summer and was immediately given the opportunity to impress Alonso during pre-season.
The Kazakhstan international made an excellent first impression against Western Sydney Wanderers.
Starting from the left, Satpayev scored after just six minutes as Chelsea eventually secured a remarkable 6-4 victory.
The teenager was subsequently used from the bench against Tottenham and Juventus before receiving more minutes in the 3-3 draw with Johor Darul Ta'zim.
Despite those opportunities, Chelsea have now decided his immediate development will be better served by regular Championship football.
Burnley win race for Chelsea youngster
Satpayev joins a Burnley side looking to return to the Premier League following last season's relegation.
New manager Nicky Hayen will now have another attacking option as he reshapes the squad at Turf Moor.
Satpayev's versatility could prove particularly useful.
Although naturally capable of operating as a centre-forward, he can also play from the wing or behind the striker, giving Hayen several ways to integrate him into his preferred 3-4-2-1 system.
He is expected to compete with Zian Flemming for opportunities through the middle, while Marcus Edwards, Aaron Ramsey, Mike Tresor and Zeki Amdouni are among Burnley's other attacking options.
Chelsea prospect brings senior experience
Despite only being 18, Satpayev already arrives with considerable senior experience.
He made 58 first-team appearances for Kairat and scored 26 goals, while also gaining experience in the Champions League.
His performances during Chelsea's pre-season showed glimpses of why the Blues moved to secure him at such a young age.
The next challenge will be translating that potential into consistent performances in English football.
