Benfica have emerged as one of the clubs interested in signing Ipswich Town winger Jaden Philogene after the England Under-21 international reportedly expressed his desire to leave the newly promoted Premier League side.

According to the BBC, Philogene is eager to play European football next season despite helping Ipswich secure promotion, with Benfica, Roma and Bologna all credited with an interest in the 24-year-old attacker.

Benfica monitoring Premier League talent

Philogene is understood to be assessing his options after an impressive campaign in which he established himself as one of Ipswich's standout performers.

The winger scored 13 goals in 36 league appearances last season and finished the campaign with 16 goals and two assists in 47 matches across all competitions.

Despite his reported desire to move, the BBC claims Philogene has remained fully committed during Ipswich's pre-season preparations, continuing to impress the club's coaching staff.

Ipswich in a strong negotiating position

Ipswich only signed Philogene permanently from Aston Villa in the winter of 2025 in a deal worth around €24 million, and the winger remains under contract until June 2029.

His previous spell at Hull City showcased his potential, with 12 goals and six assists earning him a return to Villa before his eventual move to Portman Road.

Philogene also gained widespread attention in 2024 after scoring a stunning backheel effort against Rotherham, a goal that earned a nomination for the FIFA Puskás Award.

The winger has recently changed representatives, while several Premier League clubs are also believed to be monitoring his situation, meaning Benfica could face strong competition if they decide to formalise their interest.
