Aston Villa have agreed personal terms with Club Brugge defender Joel Ordóñez as Unai Emery pushes to strengthen his defence following Ezri Konsa’s move to Arsenal.
The 22-year-old is keen on moving to Villa Park, leaving an agreement between the two clubs as the major remaining obstacle.

According to Gazet van Antwerpen, Villa are in advanced negotiations with Club Brugge and discussions are expected to enter their “decisive phase” early this week.
Ordóñez has already agreed personal terms and would prefer to complete his move to the Premier League now rather than wait until January.
Villa’s need for another centre-back has increased following Konsa’s £52m move to Arsenal.
However, Ordóñez would not provide an immediate solution on the pitch.
The Ecuador international suffered a metatarsal fracture during his country’s World Cup defeat to Mexico in July and is expected to remain sidelined for another seven to ten weeks.
Injury could lower Club Brugge price
Ordóñez’s injury could have a significant impact on the eventual transfer fee.
Club Brugge rejected a €40m offer from Crystal Palace for the defender in January, but they are not expected to demand the same figure from Villa because of his current injury.
