Newcastle deny Anis Hadj Moussa agreement despite growing transfer links

Newcastle United have denied reports claiming they have reached an agreement to sign Feyenoord winger Anis Hadj Moussa, despite growing speculation surrounding the Algerian's future.

The 24-year-old has emerged as a target for the Magpies following reports that incoming head coach Matthias Jaissle is keen to reunite with a player he previously attempted to sign during his time at Al-Ahli.

However, Newcastle have moved quickly to distance themselves from claims that a deal is close.

Reports earlier this week suggested Newcastle had agreed personal terms in principle with Hadj Moussa on a five-year contract worth around £6.2 million per year.

It was also claimed the Magpies were preparing an offer worth £32 million plus £3m in add-ons, while Feyenoord were holding out for closer to £37m.

The reports further stated that Hadj Moussa had prioritised a move to St James' Park despite interest from Benfica, Sporting CP and clubs in Saudi Arabia.

According to 365 Scores, Newcastle sporting director Ross Wilson has rejected those claims.

The report states Wilson denied there is any agreement in place with the Feyenoord winger and dismissed suggestions that negotiations have reached an advanced stage.

While Newcastle have previously been linked with the Algeria international, the club insist reports suggesting an imminent deal do not accurately reflect their current transfer activity.

Interest in Hadj Moussa is understandable given Jaissle's long-standing admiration for the winger.

With Jaissle now expected to take charge at Newcastle, Hadj Moussa has naturally resurfaced as a potential target.

Although Newcastle have denied claims of an agreement, Hadj Moussa's future at Feyenoord remains uncertain.

The winger enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 campaign, scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists in 50 appearances across all competitions.

His agent, Mohamed Dahman, also indicated last month that the player is likely to leave Rotterdam before the transfer window closes.

Newcastle's public denial suggests any move is not as advanced as initially reported, but that does not necessarily rule out future interest.
