Juventus are facing growing difficulties in their pursuit of Alisson Becker, with Liverpool reportedly unwilling to make negotiations easy despite increasing contact behind the scenes.

The Brazilian goalkeeper recently signed a contract extension at Anfield, strengthening Liverpool’s position ahead of a summer window in which Juventus are expected to prioritise a new number one.

Italian reports claim discussions around a potential move are intensifying, but Liverpool’s demands are emerging as a major obstacle.

Juventus continue pushing for Alisson

According to reports in Italy, Juventus have maintained regular communication with Alisson’s representatives as they explore the possibility of bringing the goalkeeper back to Serie A.

The 33-year-old is believed to be open to returning to Italy, where he previously established himself as one of Europe’s top goalkeepers with AS Roma.

That willingness is understood to be encouraging Juventus internally.

However, Liverpool’s stance has significantly complicated the situation.

Alisson’s new contract now runs until 2027, leaving Liverpool under no immediate pressure to negotiate and giving the club strong leverage in any potential discussions.

Liverpool demands could block deal

Italian outlet TuttoSport claims Liverpool’s valuation is currently the “main crux” of negotiations.

While no specific asking price has been disclosed, Juventus are already believed to be concerned about the overall financial package required to complete a deal.

That would include transfer fees, wages and signing-on costs.

Having followed Liverpool’s recent squad planning closely, allowing Alisson to leave this summer would represent a major decision, particularly given his continued importance when fit.

Although Giorgi Mamardashvili is highly rated internally, Liverpool would still need certainty around succession planning before sanctioning a departure.

Swap deal ideas create further complications

Italian media have also discussed the possibility of Juventus offering Michele Di Gregorio as part of a potential exchange deal.

However, that scenario appears complicated.

Di Gregorio is believed to want guaranteed first-team football, and competition with Mamardashvili could make a move to Anfield less attractive.

Juventus’ urgency is also being driven by uncertainty surrounding Di Gregorio’s own future in Turin.

That has increased pressure on the club to identify a long-term solution in goal before the transfer window accelerates.

Why the deal still looks difficult

Despite the growing noise in Italy, several obstacles remain.

Liverpool are not under financial pressure to sell, Alisson remains one of the club’s highest-performing senior players, and the total cost of the operation could quickly move beyond Juventus’ preferred structure.

There is also a clear difference between player openness and an advanced transfer negotiation.

However, it remains too early to rule the move out completely.

The coming weeks are expected to bring further discussions as Juventus continue assessing whether a realistic agreement can be reached.

Key points

  • Juventus remain interested in signing Alisson this summer
  • Liverpool’s demands are currently the biggest obstacle
  • Alisson recently signed a contract until 2027
  • Juventus have explored possible player-swap scenarios
  • Michele Di Gregorio’s future could impact negotiations

What’s next?

Juventus are expected to continue talks with Alisson’s representatives while assessing whether Liverpool’s valuation can realistically be matched.

For Liverpool, much may depend on their long-term goalkeeping plans and whether they believe Mamardashvili is ready to become first choice immediately.

As things stand, the financial complexity of the deal still makes a transfer difficult.

Should Liverpool keep Alisson for another season, or begin planning for the future now?
