Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to send winger Yang Min-hyeok on loan to Belgian side KVC Westerlo for the 2026/27 season, with the South Korean already completing his medical ahead of the move.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the two clubs have reached a full agreement, leaving only the official announcement before the deal is finalised.

The decision follows Yang's limited involvement during Tottenham's pre-season under Roberto De Zerbi, suggesting the Italian has opted for another developmental loan rather than keeping the 20-year-old in his first-team squad.

Another season away from Spurs

Yang joined Tottenham from Gangwon FC with high expectations but has yet to make a competitive breakthrough in North London.

After spending the second half of 2025 on loan at Queens Park Rangers, he returned to the Championship last season with spells at Coventry City and Portsmouth.

Across those loans, the winger continued his development but was unable to secure a permanent place in Tottenham’s plans.

Stat (Loans) Yang Min-hyeok
QPR appearances (2025) 14
QPR goals 2
QPR assists 1
Coventry & Portsmouth appearances (2025/26) 20
Goals 3
Assists 1

De Zerbi's decision becomes clear

Yang featured in Tottenham's opening two pre-season friendlies, giving him the opportunity to impress the new head coach.

However, he did not appear in any of Spurs' final three warm-up matches, hinting that De Zerbi had already decided another loan would best serve the youngster's development.

A move to Westerlo offers Yang the chance to gain regular first-team football in Belgium's top flight as he continues adapting to European football.

Key points

  • Tottenham have agreed a season-long loan for Yang Min-hyeok.
  • KVC Westerlo have reached a full agreement with Spurs.
  • Yang has already completed his medical.
  • Roberto De Zerbi did not use the winger in Tottenham's final three pre-season matches.
  • The move will give the South Korean another opportunity to gain regular first-team experience.

What's next?

An official announcement is expected shortly after the completion of the remaining paperwork. Yang will then link up with Westerlo for the 2026/27 campaign, while Tottenham continue assessing which young players are ready to contribute under Roberto De Zerbi this season.
