Wolves reject Fiorentina bid as Trabzonspor also chase Tolu Arokodare

Tolu Arokodare's future at Wolverhampton Wanderers is becoming one of the summer's developing transfer stories after Fiorentina saw an opening bid rejected for the Nigerian striker.

Trabzonspor have also made an approach for the 25-year-old, but the forward is not currently interested in a move to Turkey, leaving the Serie A side in the strongest position despite failing with their first offer.

Fiorentina have identified Arokodare as a key attacking target and have already tested Wolves' resolve with an opening proposal.

However, the Premier League club have turned that offer down, signalling they are not prepared to sell the striker below their valuation.

Trabzonspor have also entered the race, but reports suggest Arokodare does not see the Turkish club as his preferred next destination, giving Fiorentina hope that a deal can still be revived if they improve their bid.

With the transfer window still open, negotiations are expected to continue.

Wolves signed Arokodare from Genk in September 2025 for a fee of more than €26 million, rewarding the Nigerian after his prolific spell in Belgium.

His first season in England was more challenging.

Arokodare scored three goals and provided one assist in 33 Premier League appearances as Wolves suffered relegation. Despite those modest numbers, the club continue to believe the striker has significant value, particularly given his age and the length of his contract, which runs until 2029 with the option of a further year.

That strong contractual position gives Wolves little reason to accept a cut-price offer.

Although Arokodare struggled to replicate his Genk form in the Premier League, interest from multiple clubs suggests his reputation remains strong across Europe.

A move to Serie A could offer the powerful forward the opportunity to rebuild confidence and rediscover the goalscoring form that made him one of Belgium's most feared strikers before arriving in England.

For Wolves, any sale would need to make financial sense. After investing heavily in the striker less than a year ago, they are unlikely to sanction a departure unless Fiorentina return with an improved proposal.

Fiorentina are expected to decide whether to return with an improved offer after seeing their first proposal rejected. Wolves remain in a strong negotiating position and are under no immediate pressure to sell, while Trabzonspor may need to look elsewhere unless Arokodare changes his stance on a move to Turkey.
