Ousmane Diomande set for Nottingham Forest announcement after medical

Nottingham Forest are on the verge of completing the signing of Ousmane Diomande from Sporting CP, although the official announcement has been pushed back until Tuesday.

The Ivory Coast international arrived in London after travelling from Portugal on Sunday and is now undergoing the final stages of his medical ahead of completing the move to the City Ground.

According to A Bola, the delay is purely due to logistical reasons rather than any issues with the transfer itself.

Diomande was excused from Sporting's recovery session on Sunday to travel to England, signalling that the long-running negotiations had entered their final phase.

The 22-year-old is now completing his medical before signing a long-term contract with Nottingham Forest.

Given the twists that have surrounded the transfer in recent weeks, supporters may have been concerned by another delay. However, the latest report insists there are no complications, with the paperwork and scheduling simply taking longer than expected.

Nottingham Forest are expected to pay an initial €40 million for the defender, with previous reports suggesting the overall package could rise by a further €5 million through performance-related bonuses.

Diomande leaves Sporting after making 129 appearances across almost four seasons, establishing himself as one of the club's most reliable defenders under three different managers.

He is expected to sign a contract until 2031 and become another important addition to Oliver Glasner's squad as Forest continue strengthening ahead of the new campaign.

Provided the remaining formalities are completed without issue, Nottingham Forest are expected to officially announce Diomande's arrival on Tuesday. The defender will then begin preparations with Oliver Glasner's squad ahead of the start of the Premier League season.
