“We will see it, we will see it how we are after the last two matches we won at home, Villa Park, Europa League against Bologna and the league against Fulham. But we have a lot of work to do and we still have things to try to analyse deeply and try to get improving, tactically and individually,” he said.

Villa endured a disrupted pre-season with late signings and structural changes off the pitch affecting preparation. Injuries have also played a role in stalling rhythm. Emery insists the group is now settling, though he remains cautious about the challenges ahead.

The head coach knows consistency is key: “We are still missing players, but we have to keep competing with what we have. The focus is on staying strong collectively and raising individual levels.”
