Tottenham team news: Robertson and Tonali set for Sydney FC debuts

Tottenham Hotspur continue their pre-season tour of Australia on Wednesday as Roberto De Zerbi's side face Sydney FC looking to maintain their perfect summer record.

Spurs have already recorded victories over Milton Keynes and Auckland FC, and supporters could finally see several of the club's marquee signings make their first appearances in a Tottenham shirt.

After rotating heavily against Auckland FC, De Zerbi is expected to field a stronger side at Allianz Stadium.

New arrivals Andrew Robertson, Jan Paul van Hecke and Mateus Fernandes are all in contention to make their Spurs debuts, while club-record signing Sandro Tonali could also feature after missing the opening match of the tour.

De Zerbi confirmed after the Auckland victory that Tonali has been managing a minor issue but could return against Sydney.

"For the next friendly game against Sydney, maybe we play with Tonali, with others, maybe, we've got to see."

James Maddison and Destiny Udogie both sat out the win over Auckland as Tottenham's coaching staff opted against taking unnecessary risks.

The pair remain doubts for Wednesday's fixture, although neither player is believed to be carrying a serious injury.

Dominic Solanke also missed the opening tour match as his workload continues to be carefully managed following last season's injury problems.

Jamie Donley is another concern after limping off against Auckland, leaving his availability uncertain.

Meanwhile, players granted extended leave following the World Cup are not expected to rejoin the squad until Tottenham return to England.

Several academy players have taken advantage of their opportunities during pre-season.

Centre-back Malachi Hardy has impressed defensively, while Mikey Moore continues to strengthen his case for regular first-team involvement.

Mathys Tel also caught the eye from the bench against Auckland, while Dane Scarlett and Richarlison both found the net as competition for attacking places intensifies under De Zerbi.
